Makeup is a Girl’s Best Friend
I absolutely love makeup. As a Disney Cast Member, I was given the opportunity to shop at Sephora with a discount. This only happens twice a year so when I heard it was coming and that it coincided with the BlogHer conference, I knew I had to jump at the offer.
I made an appointment for a beauty makeover at the Beauty Bar in Sephora the day the BlogHer conference began. I took this opportunity to get new makeup and have my makeup done for me. I do have to admit, it came out fantastic.
Everything I got was something new that I hadn’t used before. I love to mix and match makeup, so this was my chance to get something different and test it out.
Let’s begin with my moisturizer/primer: Bobby Brown Hydrating Face Cream. I love to experiment with moisturizers. I used to have dry skin, but lately it’s been a bit oily. I use the Belief true cream hydrating bomb now, but I also bought the Bobby Brown face cream and I love it. I use the Belief when I go to bed, and Bobby Brown in the morning before I put my makeup on because it works as a great primer as well.
Next up: foundation. My aunt loves Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup as her foundation, and the makeup artist in Sephora that that it would go well with my type of skin and complexion so we tried it out. I loved how light it felt on and knew right away it was going to in my basket as a “YES”.
I also fell in love with the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer. It covered my dark circles and went on smoothly. It also didn’t leave my under eye area or face looking cake-y. Big win.
I usually don’t wear eyeliner, mostly because I can’t figure out how to make it look good on me, but I took a chance and purchased the Bobby Brown long wear eye pencil in black. I use it mostly on the top of my lid, and it looks fine but I’m still trying to make it work.
Now, one thing I will not leave the apartment without is mascara. I love mascara. I always have two or three that I go to for everything and the day I got my makeup done, she introduced me to the Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Classico mascara and my life has been transformed ever since. This mascara lengthens and adds volume, and boy can you tell. It looks fantastic on. I’m obsessed.
Along with mascara, I like to wear lipstick or lipgloss. Always. Those two are my go-to makeup products. For the BlogHer conference, I wanted to wear something neutral. I love nude colors, so I asked for a nude shade that would pop a little and the makeup artist picked the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in the Uptight shade. I actually really liked the color so of course, I bought it!
Something I really hate, but I feel is a necessary key of a final look is eyeshadow. I, for the life of me, can not put on eye shadow so I found the next best thing. I bought the NARS Velvet Shadow Stick in Goddess and I had a sample from my 500-point gift of the Bobby Brown’s long wear cream shadow stick in Sand Dune.
For powder, my makeup artist recommended that I get the Tarte Smooth Operator, which is an Amazonian clay tinted pressed finishing powder. So far I love it. I’m used to using translucent powder, so having this tinted powder is a nice change.
I always like to have options when it comes to my concealer so I asked the makeup artist to recommend another concealer that she thought would work well on me. She recommended Too Faced Born This Way Naturally Radiant Concealer.
I actually really like it and it blends well with the Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer. I know, I’m strange, I use two concealers at the same time.
Blush/Bronzer is something that I rarely wear, but find to be a necessity. I have always been a fan of Benefit Cosmetics Hoola bronzer, so I had her use the Hoola Lite on me to test it out and I loved it.
At the end of the day I am beyond thrilled with my purchases. I don’t use everything everyday, but I use what I consider the necessities before I walk out the door for work. My daily routine includes the moisturizer, foundation, concealer, Hoola lite bronzer, mascara, and a nude shade of lip color. Everything else I use when I’m going out, have plans with friends, or want to take that extra step before I leave the apartment.
