Come AWAY With Me

I want to let everyone know that this post is in no way or form a sponsored post. This post is my own opinion and what is talked about is from my personal experience. The purchase was made by me and it was in no way sponsored by Away suitcases. Thank you.

Come travel AWAY with me!

After months of thinking, going back and forth, and debating whether I should take the leap and buy the Away Carry On – I finally took the leap! With my trip to Colorado next week, it couldn’t have come at a more perfect time either! See this beautiful carry on has so many great features I don’t even know where to begin!

Let”s start with the packaging!

I was so excited to buy a carry on, that I knew it needed to match my main suitcase which is of a navy color, So that is exactly what I chose: Navy. It came in a simple box with the AWAY logo, and once you opened it up inside there was a canvas bag around the suitcase. I was only too eager to open the bag…So of course, I carefully took out the bag and positioned it for a picture (I felt like a mother making her child pose for endless pictures!).

Here is where the fun began. I took the canvas off and positioned the bag so that I could see it in all of it’s beauty. Here is a shot from the very top, where you can see the tag, the TSA lock, the set up in the back for the charger (this carry on CHARGES your devices, I mean HOW cool is that!) and the clean buy easy to function exterior. (As seen in both pictures below).
Below is another picture of the exterior, this one with more of a view of the charging area. Now let’s open it up! Inside there are two pockets for packing. One that is enclosed as you can see on the left, and the other which is more open but has an enclosed portion you can buckle in to keep things neatly organized on top of what you have packed. The suitcase is 21.7″ which I think is a great fit for a carry on and I love the idea of this extra enclosed pouch as I like to call it because I can store important papers or even my laptop in this section over clothes, makeup, and other essentials to pack in a carry on.This is a better view of it laying down, more at an angle. AWAY even sent a little manual, an extra battery and cable for charging your iPhone or iPad (how did they know???) and the TSA key for the lock. I’m just so taken away by this carry on that it makes me want to stay at a hotel just for the night this weekend for the heck of it!

The Perfect Companion

I travel from Orlando to Miami. a lot, so I can visit my parents (sometimes yay) and my grandmother (definitely yay). This AWAY bag is going to be the best investment I will have made this year by far. I’m already thinking of getting the bigger suitcase and replacing my regular suitcase with another AWAY luggage because I’ve such great things and I just love what I see. I mean it’s total love at first sight!

I am extremely picky when it comes to choosing suitcases because I like to have functional and lasting products. I do not like the type of bags that will die after a couple of uses. I mean I have had my suitcase for over 5 years already and it’s still in good shape, I could use an upgrade but it’s still in good shape. I never had a roll on carry-on though. I always used my sisters so I have been in the market for one and that’s where AWAY came in. I can honestly say I am truly excited for my trip next week and for the trips to come. Let the traveling bug continue to bite!

Have any of you heard about AWAY suitcases? Do you own any?

Travel Diaries – Up Next: Colorado!

On this Travel Diaries post, I will be talking about my trip to Colorado in just a few weeks. I have been to Colorado before, but never in the summer which makes this even cooler. I’ll be going for a family friends wedding at the top of the mountain in Vail, but I am planning on making it a vacation while I’m there.

The location

We will be staying at the Evergreen Lodge in Vail, Colorado for a week. The rooms are big and look beautiful, they have a nice lounge area and a beautiful pool. Their bar is supposedly rated the best in Vail.

The Activities

While we are there, my aunt and I plan to do some fun activities. Those include white-water rafting, a hike up the mountain, zip lining, and a coaster on the mountain.

This is the view you see hiking up the mountain. I love walking, and I always see friends on Instagram hiking up beautiful mountains so I’m really excited to have this opportunity.

This is what the coaster on the mountain looks like. I absolutely love, LOVE, love rollercoasters and the idea of doing one at the top of a mountain is both terrifying and exciting at the same time. It’s called an “alpine coaster” which is basically a rollercoaster, wall climbing, and a bungee trampoline.

WHITE WATER RAFTING! I’ve done this before in North Carolina, but it’s nothing like these. This white water rafting trip can have class IV-V rapids! SO exciting.

I was also told that there is a concert series in Vail that is worth watching. It’s called Bravo! Vail. I’ll definitely be checking that out.

Of course you have the 4th of July fireworks to look forward to! Since my trip overlaps with the 4th of July, I get to see fireworks shot off while standing at the top of a mountain. Imagine the view! I can’t wait. I’m definitely taking my camera, my polaroid camera, and my iPhone.

What to PACK?

This is the next big question. Stay tuned to a post about my new suitcase and what I’ll be packing for my adventure filled vacation!

New York Packing List

New York, Here I Come

In two days I will be off to New York and being the procrastinator I am, I have not started to pack. This weekend’s forecast will be rainy on Friday/Saturday with the temperature in the 50/60’s throughout the weekend.

A few notes to start with:

  1. I was born and raised in Florida, anything below 70 degrees is cold for me.
  2. I always pack more than I should because I change my mind so frequently about what I want to wear on a given day.

Packing List

  • First and foremost, I always pack my pajamas. I have an obsession with cute pajamas so I have a drawer full of them to pick from. I am super into wearing my button down shirt and pajama shorts so I have a feeling that is what I will be packing this weekend. It helps that they are broken in from having washed them so many times already. The one I’ll be packing is this one. Another option, which I also have, is this one. Some other options are this one, this one (I also have this set), and this one.
  • I love to wear leggings. When the weather is cool the way it will be when I’m in New York is the best time to wear leggings. I am a huge Lululemon fan and own an obscene amount of their leggings, some that I will be taking are this one and this one. I also recently received a pair from a new brand called Girlfriend Collective, here is a review from Who What Wear about their new leggings (they do fit pretty fabulously).
  • I have three oversized  sweatshirts from Zara that I am obsessed with. Those will definitely be packed because they are so comfortable it feels like you’re in pajamas the entire time. Here is a similar version to what I have in pink, black, and off white.
  • Of course, I need to take some long sleeve shirts. I’ll probably get some simple long sleeved t-shirts at Uniqlo or Target, maybe Zara has.
  • Light weight jackets. I have picked out four jackets I might choose from for this weekend. I am definitely taking my oversized Toy Story jean jacket from Forever 21. Then I am trying to decide between taking my leather jacket, my Tory Burch short trench coat, or my Who What Wear satin bomber jacket. Decisions, Decisions.

Missing Anything?

You obviously can’t forget your phone charger. I’ll also be taking my laptop to finish a final while I’m there so I need my laptop and charger. Since I have an Apple Watch, I need to take that charger and the charger for my BeatsX headphones. Of course the usual undergarments and socks must be included. And you can’t forget any last minute details like sunglasses, a book, magazine, or iPad.

Overall, I’m really excited about my trip. There’s just something about the concrete jungle that does it for me. If I could live there, I would. Hands down.

First Stop, New York

New York, New York!

I am so excited to be going to New York in just a few weeks!! I haven’t been in two and a half years and I am way overdue for a trip to my favorite city (Chicago is my second favorite). This time I’ll be spending time with my favorite family and my two favorite little girls. I think I’m more excited about that than actually being in the city, however the city is my favorite so any time spent there will be fabulous.

I even hope to do some little shopping in Soho or Chelsea just to get some of that New York street style to bring back to Orlando. I’m actually even interested in going to some vintage shops I’ve read about on blog posts to really get some great finds. I have been looking for a good vintage store to go to and find some gems, but I just haven’t found the right one.

Must Do’s in New York

There are somethings on my “must do” list every time I go to New York. First being getting cupcakes! I absolutely LOVE cupcakes. My favorite places to get cupcakes are Georgetown Cupcakes and Magnolia’s Bakery (the Soho one). Another thing I always do is eat pizza at Lombardi’s in Little Italy. It is so freaking good. If you’re going to go there keep in mind they only take cash.

I love going to the Empire State building, statue of Liberty, and places like the Village and Chinatown. You can never go wrong by going to Chinatown. It’s such a fun experience. I absolutely love going to see Broadway plays. I’ve seen Peter Pan, Mama Mia (about three times), Wicked (about seven times), I even saw Bring it On, the Musical when it was playing on Broadway. The last Broadway show I saw was Kinky Boots with Wanye Brady and my, oh my was it good!
