I have a very exciting announcement to make. I spontaneous decided that I wanted to switch up my hair, and I did! It was a normal Tuesday when I went around my office polling them about what kind of hair cut I should do. A trim? A lob? A bob? What? I even polled Instagram and the decision was unanimous – the lob had won so I went out on a limb called my hair salon and asked for an appointment. Luckily they had one for that night and I just went for it. Now, if you know me you know I’m afraid of cutting my hair. I literally will cry. If you didn’t know me, now you know. I can be the biggest baby when it comes to that. So what exactly did I do to my hair? Well, let’s take a look.
These are pictures of me before the cut. They were taken within the last month and a half and demonstrate the length of hair I had.
These are the pictures of me after I got my hair chopped off about 7-8 inches. Now for me to cut this much hair, I must either be crazy or be doing something out of the ordinary for me. The most I cut at one time is 3 inches. But that day I went for it. I usually am not a fan of short hair, but I have so much hair that I needed to do something fun and light for the summer. My hair feels so clean, healthy, and light now that I can’t wait to let it grow healthy. That’s been my problem, I’ve had so much product and hair dye in my hair plus I straighten and blow dry it so much that my hair was looking crunchy. Well not anymore! It is officially nice and clean and fresh!
Cutting my hair is a way of me starting over. I now have a bucket list to complete and I’m almost done with this semester of school so I am gearing up to have a few months off of school and dedicating more time to the blog and running. It’s exciting to have a chance to start fresh and really refocus my life. It’s been so hectic the last six months that I need this “do-over”.
What do you think, do you like the hair?
On the first Monday in May, the fashion event of the year occurs: the Met Gala. This years Met Gala celebrated Comme des Garçons designer Rei Kawakubo. Rei Kawakubo is a Tokyo-based designer and a legend. His eye for fashion is groundbreaking and boundary-pushing (to say the least). Kawakubo is known for bold, experimental clothing, and his designs have an stern aesthetic and cult-like following. Last night we saw fashion go from one extreme of the spectrum to another, it was definitely boundary-pushing for some and full of art and class for others.
Let’s talk about who I felt was “best” and “worst” dressed at this years Met Gala. It is extremely hard to just pick one best dressed outfit for the night where there were so many wonderful, and breathtaking choices to choose from so this list is in no way shape or form a from best to worst dressed. It will reflect my personal reviews of who was “best dressed” and who’s outfits I considered to be “worst dressed” overall.
