Switch up

I have a very exciting announcement to make. I spontaneous decided that I wanted to switch up my hair, and I did! It was a normal Tuesday when I went around my office polling them about what kind of hair cut I should do. A trim? A lob? A bob? What? I even polled Instagram and the decision was unanimous – the lob had won so I went out on a limb called my hair salon and asked for an appointment. Luckily they had one for that night and I just went for it. Now, if you know me you know I’m afraid of cutting my hair. I literally will cry. If you didn’t know me, now you know. I can be the biggest baby when it comes to that. So what exactly did I do to my hair? Well, let’s take a look.

Before the CHOP

These are pictures of me before the cut. They were taken within the last month and a half and demonstrate the length of hair I had.

These are the pictures of me after I got my hair chopped off about 7-8 inches. Now for me to cut this much hair, I must either be crazy or be doing something out of the ordinary for me. The most I cut at one time is 3 inches. But that day I went for it. I usually am not a fan of short hair, but I have so much hair that I needed to do something fun and light for the summer. My hair feels so clean, healthy, and light now that I can’t wait to let it grow healthy. That’s been my problem, I’ve had so much product and hair dye in my hair plus I straighten and blow dry it so much that my hair was looking crunchy. Well not anymore! It is officially nice and clean and fresh!

New Hair, New Me!

Cutting my hair is a way of me starting over. I now have a bucket list to complete and I’m almost done with this semester of school so I am gearing up to have a few months off of school and dedicating more time to the blog and running. It’s exciting to have a chance to start fresh and really refocus my life. It’s been so hectic the last six months that I need this “do-over”.

What do you think, do you like the hair?

The First Monday in May

On the first Monday in May, the fashion event of the year occurs: the Met Gala. This years Met Gala celebrated Comme des Garçons designer Rei Kawakubo. Rei Kawakubo is a Tokyo-based designer and a legend. His eye for fashion is groundbreaking and boundary-pushing (to say the least). Kawakubo is known for bold, experimental clothing, and his designs have an stern aesthetic and cult-like following. Last night we saw fashion go from one extreme of the spectrum to another, it was definitely boundary-pushing for some and full of art and class for others.

Let’s talk about who I felt was “best” and “worst” dressed at this years Met Gala. It is extremely hard to just pick one best dressed outfit for the night where there were so many wonderful, and breathtaking choices to choose from so this list is in no way shape or form a from best to worst dressed. It will reflect my personal reviews of who was “best dressed” and who’s outfits I considered to be “worst dressed” overall.

FabFitFun Spring Box Review

Spring Box Review

Today I received the Spring box for FabFitFun! I love when I receive subscription boxes since I never know what they are going to have inside. Let’s take a look at what came inside my Spring box!

So, the Spring box is LOADED with stuff. I seriously can not wait to use all this stuff and see what it’s all about. I already know I’m going to absolutely love two things because I have one of the brand products already. Okay, so let’s go over what is in the box.

What’s Inside?

  • Gypsy 05 Roundie – This is absolutely adorable. It’s a round blanket that can be used for picnics, the beach, even an outdoor concert, or a backyard BBQ! I’ve been wanting one of these since I saw someone on Instagram use it at the beach. I can’t wait to use it when I go to the beach or down to Miami to hang out by the pool.
  • Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray – So I have this brand for another hair product and I love it. I can’t wait to use the leave in conditioner. I love trying new hair products. If there is anything I like to experiment with it’s my hair (at some point I will do a post about all the shades of blonde and brunette I have been in maybe a 2-3 year span!). Especially because I experiment with my hair so much, I could use the extra love which is exactly what this will do for my hair. Leave in conditioners are great and if you focus on the middle to ends part of your hair, it will act as a heat protectant and help protect your hair as well.
  • Milly Zip Pouch – So. This pouch (I got the Slay All Day one) can be used for bathing suits (wet or dry) or make up**. I just love the “slay all day”!
    • **I love makeup bags so that’s probably what I will use it for, but the idea of the bathing suit bag is clutch for the summer!
  • Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Age Defying Exfoliator – this product contains a formula with aluminum oxide crystals, lactic acid, and smoothing botanicals to polish away dead cells and leave you with bright, smooth, healthy-looking skin. I can’t wait to use this and then cleanse my skin and add my moisturizer before bed. hmm. So excited.
  • Karuna Hydrating+ Face Mask – I am a HUGE face mask fan so I am thrilled to try this. This is made out of 100% natural wood-pulp fiber and is a single use mask that allows your pores to fully absorb essential nutrients and nursing ingredients for the ultimate hydration. This calls for a girly night 🙂 I definitely need to pencil one in!
  • Realher Lip Kit in Deep Nude – Now, there were three boxes you could have possibly gotten: Women Rule the World, I Am Fabulous, and I Am Awesome. Of course, I got the I Am Awesome and to my luck it happened to be my absolute favorite shade of lip stick/glosses – NUDE! I immediately tried it on and totally fell in love.

  • Emerald DUV “Joshua Tree” Cage Bracelet – Okay, I love these kinds of bracelets. I actually just bought a cage bracelet for a friends wedding at Henri Bendell and the one that came in the box is absolutely beautiful and simple. I can definitely see myself wearing it and stacking it with my gold bangles or wearing it with nothing else.

  • Deborah Lippmann Nail Polish Set in Like a Virgin/Shape of My Heart – With these nail polishes you had two options you could have gotten a baby blue and white or a white and light pink. Luckily for me, I got the white and light pink which happen to be my favorite nail polish colors (aside from dark colors like Lincoln Park After Dark or black – basically the other extreme). Since I work for Disney, I can’t really do the extreme colors I like (cough, cough) so I always wear light white and light pink and I must have drawn the lucky straw with this box because I’ve gotten my favorite colors in everything! I actually need a manicure and I can’t wait to go so I can test these babies out. I just don’t know which one to try first!
  • Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin, & Nails Gummies – I am obsessed with vitamins that will help my hair grow longer because about a year and a half ago I cut my hair short and I have since then regretted it every day since. I literally take vitamins to grow my hair and now I’ll be taking these with those to speed up the process! I actually just had some and they’re delicious too (even better perk!).

Well that wraps up the Spring FabFitFun box! I can’t wait to use all these fun things!! Please note, this is not a sponsored post. I paid for my subscription and reviewed the box on and for my own opinion.
